How You Can Help Club Stairways

Club Stairways is a club, and it belongs to its members who participate in it and who make it come alive. Without the help of members, Club Stairways would not exist.

There is no obligation to volunteer at Club Stairways. In fact, it's stated in the International Clubhouse Standards that membership is voluntary. But most of us do participate in running the Clubhouse...

No matter what your experience or ability, Club Stairways can use your help. Many members at Club Stairways have been told that because of our illness we would never work or hold responsibilities. Here, working and learning side-by-side with friends, we have learned that we do possess skills, that those skills are valuable, and that our contribution to running the Clubhouse is appreciated.

Whether helping out in the kitchen or answering phones to organizing fundraising events, there is so much work to be done! And we need your help to make sure that Club Stairways continues to be a center of hope for people with mental illness in our community.

Who Can Become a Member

Membership is open to anyone in the Butte County with a diagnosed mental health condition, such as major depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, or schizophrenia. Club Stairways does not discriminate on the basis of diagnosis, disability,  race, ethnicity, religion, education, income, or sexual orientation.

While doctors, caseworkers, or other professionals in the community may make referrals, we also accept self-referrals. There are no membership dues or fees, and as a member you can retain your membership for as long as you like. Becoming a member is simple. At Club Stairways we pride ourselves on a quick acceptance and entry into the Clubhouse.

How to Join

If you think you are interested in joining, please call us at 530-345-4514 to arrange a tour. A member will show you what it is we do at Club Stairways and you can pick up a Club Stairways application form right after the tour. Simply complete the form and send it back to us. You can mail it, fax it or drop it off. We'll contact you shortly after we receive the application.
