Supportive Housing

Stairways Recovery provides dignified housing for adults with mental illness that is based on the concept of a peerdriven community. In all our housing units, residents play an active role in shaping and governing their housing situations, building social and independent living skills as they progress in their recovery. Stairways Recovery provides a wide array of housing alternatives, from highly-structured supportive housing to fully peer-run graduate housing that operates with minimal support.

Benefits of Supportive Housing

Stairways Recovery provides residents and their families the benefits of social connections and support. Results of a
study conducted by California Department of Mental Health determined that housing with supportive services resulted in a 55.8% reduction in hospital inpatient days and a 72.1% reduction in days incarcerated.* At Stairways Recovery, we have also found that a program of education and peer support can reduce unnecessary calls for emergency services by
up to 70%.
